The Future of Drug & Alcohol Services in Bristol

Over the 38 years BDP has been operating in Bristol many things have changed. Governments have formed and left, the needs of our communities have evolved but our commitment to providing the best possible services for people who use drugs and alcohol in Bristol has been resolute.

On April 1st 2025, the next evolution in BDP’s history will begin as we embark in a new partnership that will be delivering drug and alcohol services in Bristol for at least the next 5 years…

Introducing Horizons – Bristol’s Drug and Alcohol Partnership

Horizons is the name for a new partnership of different organisations that will be collaboratively providing services for people who use drugs and alcohol in Bristol. This will take over from the current ‘ROADS’ system that is currently in place. Horizons will bring staff and expertise from each of the partner organisations together as a single team working together to provide the best possible services to the people of Bristol in a location close to them. All Horizons’ services will be free and confidential and will provide inclusive, respectful and ever-evolving support that will help people make well informed choices about their wellbeing. We are incredibly excited about the potential this partnership way of working has for the people of Bristol.

Alongside BDP the organisations making up the Horizons partnership are:

What does this mean for BDP?

BDP will continue to exist, and we have an important part to play as one of the lead organisations in the partnership. We will be leveraging our decades of expertise and the spirit that has made BDP what it is today to develop the services offered by Horizons to be the best they can be.

We will also continue to deliver services outside of the Horizons partnership including our Creative Communities project, The 50+ Crowd and M32 Youth Group. It’s an exciting time for BDP as we look towards the future, and we have some exiting plans and announcements just around the corner.

What’s next?

Keep your eyes open for more updates about our new service as we approach April 1st including the launch of the new Horizons branding and website. If you have any questions about the new service, please reach out to us by calling 0117 987 6000 or emailing info@bdp.org.uk.
