BDP to work in pharmacies in hard-to-reach communities.

Pharmacy WeekAs part of national 'Ask Your Pharmacist Week', we are pleased to announce a new project with Lloyds Pharmacy which aims to improve our direct contact with communities in North and South Bristol.‚Äč

Ask Your Pharmacist Week is an annual awareness event organised by the National Pharmacy Association, to provide a platform for pharmacy activities and services across the UK. This year's theme is ‘Medicines and More’, the perfect sping board for BDP's partnership project with Lloyds Pharmacy which is set to launch in early December 2016.

This pioneering service will see members of BDP's Assertive Engagement team working in Stockwood and Southmead's Lloyds Pharmacies, offering people direct care and services. It is being launched as part of an ongoing project to allow BDP to have a bigger presence within established pharmacies. By working within communities on the outskirt of Bristol, we hope to build a stronger understanding of the needs of local communities and be better placed for people living nearby to access the range of services on offer.

The new service will see BDP staff working in the pharmacies one day a week, where they will be able to offer free and confidential advice, Needle Exchange services, Blood Borne Virus testing, and the training and supply of Naloxone (to reverse the effects of opioid overdose).

Stay tuned for more information.
