Spreading the word at Bristol Harbour Festival...
Bristol Harbour Festival took place from Friday 15 - Sunday 17July around Bristol’s historic and iconic Harbourside. We were lucky to be there for the full three days, with our BDP gazebo parked alongside Narrow Quay.
We catch up with BDP Engagement staff to find out about their experiences at this year's festival...
"It was a great day out, we gave a lot of information out about our services and the sort of support we offer at BDP. .. There was a lot of people who came up to the stall for a chat about family members or to ask about support for themselves."
"We also spoke to a lot of people from professional backgrounds: Teachers, Social Workers, Youth Workers, someone from Terrance Higgins Trust and a Nurse from a local prison. I also spoke to a man setting up a neighbourhood watch scheme who wanted information on where to signpost people he may come across with drug or alcohol issues.”
- Marcus, BDP Engagement Worker
"We spoke to concerned family members and a few men who wanted help with their cocaine use."
"We also talked to a lot of people about their alcohol use and gave out alcohol measuring unit wheels and cups. Two women we spoke to, in particular, were quite surprised by the amount of units in their favourite drink and even more so the amount of calories they contain!"
- Deb, BDP Engagement Worker
"The main highlight for me this year was a lady coming over to thank us for her being seven years drug free."
- Ian, BDP Engagement Worker
