Triodos Bank donates 12 months of volunteers to BDP
Bristol based sustainable bank, Triodos, will be volunteering their time and skills to support BDP over the next 12 months.
BDP has been selected from a number of Bristol charities to secure this volunteering partnership which aims to put the collective skills and resources of Triodos Bank workers to full use, in order to help maximise the impact of BDP’s work.
The ‘Changermakers’ corporate volunteering programme will see up to 130 Tridos co-workers support two local charities BDP and Young Bristol, as they donate 900 hours of support over the next year. Future projects include Triodos delivering an employability workshop, as part of BDP’s TEVE programme to support service users back into work.
Bevis Watts, Managing Director of Triodos Bank UK explains that the ‘Changemakers’ partnership means Triodos staff can be part of creating social impact in Bristol:
"As tackling social inequality is one of Triodos Bank’s key objectives, the Changemaker program involves our co-workers at the very heart of our business activity working beside the social entrepreneurs who are making a difference."
Simon Marlow, a Triodos employee and one of the new volunteers, said:
"I want to contribute wherever I can and through working for Triodos I always felt I was part of a commercial organisation committed to changing lives and it’s important to remember why supporting not-for-profits is so important. Young Bristol and BDP are aligned with everything the bank stands for, and it will be a pleasure to see their work in practice."
Maggie Telfer, CEO of BDP, has praised Triodos Bank’s decision to partner with BDP, saying:
"We are delighted that Triodos Bank have chosen us as a partner; our commitment to reducing prejudice and maximising people’s potential is a perfect fit with their mission to create a society that protects and promotes the quality of life for all its members.
"Our organisations are both driven by passion and we are looking forward to working with Triodos’s Changemakers on a range of projects, including improvements to our new base in South Bristol and taking a fresh look at some of the complex processes in managing the 10,000 referrals made to us each year. In return we guarantee each Triodos volunteer a real insight into one of society’s most challenging and damaging problems".
